I just watched an amazing man tell an amazing story. All people that fight for freedom and against terrorism are people that are made from really strong stuff. I met a man called Noel Davies who was also a Japanese Prisoner of war, sadly he died some years ago and he also wrote of his experiences during that time. The lengths that you went to to document you and your fellow inmates suffering so that everyone should know should be recognised by all. I have also just discovered that I was born on your birthday.

From my family and myself, thank you Sg. Kirk for your service to this country which was certainly above and beyond the call of duty. I just bought your book, but I wish I would have known about this website first so I could have purchased an autographed copy. The brief portion of your story I saw on TV is inspiring, and I am looking forward to reading the entire tale. Take care of yourself and semper fi from a non-Marine to a Marine we can all be very proud of! John
